In 2022, LCK celebrated its centenary birthday. Aunty Fay Stuart-Muir, a Senior Boon Wurrung and Wamba Wamba Elder, First Nations’ community leader, Koori Court Elder, as well as being an author of books loved by the children at Lilian Cannam joined in the celebration. Aunty Fay opened the event with a Welcome to Country ceremony.

In office at the time, Nina Taylor MP, COPP Mayor Marcus Pearl, Deputy Mayor Tim Baxter, Councillor Peter Martin and Councillor Heather Cunsolo joined in the celebrations. On the day, LCK was extremely lucky to receive a special announcement from Nina Taylor MP and Councillor Peter Martin, of $3.9 million from the Victorian State Government and City of Port Phillip to refurbish LCK’s heritage listed building, over the next 3-7 years. We see this as an extraordinary 100th birthday gift.
